Are your Neon/SRT4/PT Cruiser spark plugs drenched in oil? Time to replace the valve cover gasket!

Neon SRT4 valve cover leak / oil in spark plug tube well seals

Are your Neon/SRT4/PT Cruiser spark plugs drenched in oil? If your spark plug tube well seals look like the photo above then its time to replace the valve cover gasket and spark plug tube well seals. If the problem is bad enough, oil can interfere with the spark plugs operation and make your car misfire!

This is a fairly straightforward job to do, takes about 30 minutes at most and can be done with a 8mm and 10mm socket.

MP carries the valve cover gaskets for the SRT4, call us to order!

Quite possibly the worlds only 4 lug 1995-1999 Neon conversion.

Our employee Clarence likes to be different.

His 04 Neon SRT4 was custom painted maroon.
His 04 Neon SRT4 has about half an inch of ground clearance and tucks tires. He drives it EVERYDAY!

Now, on his 1996 Neon with Sohc manual, he’s converting his 5 lug car over to a 4 lug so he can have more choices of wheels with the 4×100 bolt pattern.

Photos of a new project car at MP. 2002 Dodge Neon RT!

Look at this interior! Its in great shape!

Cory’s purchased another Neon! This one is a 2002 Neon RT with 42,000 miles. The engine seems to have a little bit of a knock and we havent had a chance to tear it open to check to see if its a rod or rocker. Either way, we’re leaning towards trying to swap a 2.4 NA motor into it to increase the torque by nearly 40lbs off the bat!

More details to come!

Photo of Corys NYG Neon ACR

Photo of Cory’s Nitro Yellow Green 1995 Neon ACR.

This is after doing some driving in the country on a dirt road near Austin Texas. Its a little dirty, but man look at the stance, wheel offset, and overall car.
What a beauty.

Quote from someone walking by the NYG Neon at a BUC-EES gas station on way back from Austin, TX.

“God that is the ugliest color for a car, ever” (Seriously, we’re not making this up)

Hehe

Not Neon/SRT4/CSRT4/Cobalt but still amazing. CF lovers take a look!

Sorry to dissapoint you Neon/SRT4/CSRT4/Cobalt fans but this is still amazing.

This is a CF inner door panel from a Lamborghini Super Leggera. Made entirely out of CF to save weight, even the door pull strap uses a strap of leather instead of plastic.

We’d love to have door panels like this, but sadly this would be outrageously expensive all to save about 3-5 lbs a side. Hehe.

Photos of a 2nd gen Neon ACR seen in a Harbor Freight parking lot

2nd gen Neon ACR Neon
2nd gen Neon ACR Neon

Most non Neon enthusiasts would think this is a regular base model 00-05 Neon.

But, this is suprisingly a 01-02 Neon ACR equipped with the Magnum SOHC motor. The ACR is distinguishable between a base model Neon because of its:

- 15×7 wheels
- dual chrome tipped muffler
- manual transmission
- high output badge on rear of trunk

What makes the ACR so special? The ACR packaged Neons and SRT4’s were always a lighter production version of the Neon and SRT4 designed for autocrossing, road racing purposes.

This particular ACR would be one of probably about.. 300 ACR Neon 01-02 ever built. Super RARE.

Neon SRT4 Hurst shifter modified to fit into a Neon

SRT4 Hurst shifter into 1995 Neon

Sorry for the blurry pic!

This picture shows a Neon SRT4 Hurst shifter modified to fit into a 1995 Neon.

This install was done into Cory’s 1995 Neon with SRT4 swap. The end result is amazing, the shifter feels super solid, is angled nicely towards the driver, and the height of the shift ball is perfect.

This install was done on a Neon mounting base with most of the other components coming from a Neon SRT4 Mopar short shifter. Components of the Mopar short shifter were then combined with the Hurst shifter to make a hybrid Neon/Mopar/Hurst shifter.

At some point we’ll try to do a special blog post showing the work needed to make the Hurst shifter fit into a first gen.

Photo of three first gen Neons at MP the other day.

As most of you already know, most of the employees at MP have owned, or still own first gen Neons. We love em!

So, when one of our good friends and old employee Sgt Alex Lopez stopped by in his 98 Platinum ACR Neon we took a photo alongside Matt V’s 98 Neon (black) and Cory’s NYG ACR Neon.

Enjoy the pics!

As our cars get older, insurance values drop, dont get stuck with wrong insurance.

One problem we have with most of our customized/modified cars is that as they get older, the value of the car to the insurance company drops.

Ie, a 1995 Neon may only be worth $1400 to an insurance company, but you may have to spend $5,000 -$10,000+ to replace your Neon if it gets stolen, totalled, etc.

So, what you need to do is get agreed value insurance, where you state the replacement value of your car and insure it accordingly. Most insurance companies dont offer this type of service, so ask if they cover mods, wheels, paintwork, etc and if they dont, check into agreed value insurance.

One company we have found that seems to be highly rated is American Collectors. They will work with you even if your car is NOT valued as a collectors car. We are NOT AFFILIATED with them, only trying to make sure the hundreds/thousands/tens of thousands of hours, and or dollars you have in your car are not lost. American Collectors will only insure pleasure vehicles, not daily driven vehicles btw.
